The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation Highlights CAPABLE's National Impact

CAPABLE is honored to be featured in a recent article from The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation highlighting programs that help older adults remain safe, healthy, and independent in their homes and communities.

The article explores the Foundation's efforts to support evidence-based programs that improve quality of life for older adults, including CAPABLE (Community Aging in Place, Advancing Better Living for Elders). Developed by Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing, CAPABLE combines the expertise of a registered nurse, occupational therapist, and handy worker to address both health and home environment challenges that can affect a person's ability to age safely in place.

The Foundation's feature highlights the growth and impact of CAPABLE, as well as the launch of the CAPABLE National Center, a partnership between Johns Hopkins and Care Synergy designed to support training, implementation, quality assurance, and expansion of the program nationwide. Through these efforts, more communities are gaining access to a proven model that helps older adults maintain their independence while improving health outcomes and reducing healthcare costs.

We are grateful to The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation for its leadership and investment in innovative programs that support older adults and their families. By sharing the stories and outcomes behind programs like CAPABLE, the Foundation is helping raise awareness of effective approaches that allow more people to age with dignity, safety, and independence.
